Its not child abuse when the government does it.

Totalitarian ideologies are notorious for their habit of indoctrinating children, The Nazis, Russians, Chinese and other fascists have made a practice of exploiting the trust of the young while they are at a vulnerable age. Ideologically based regimes have no compunction about the damage this will do, as the means justifies the end.

Now the education system is teaching our kids that the planet is doomed to fry in hell unless they can persuade their deadbeat, ignorant, selfish, knuckle dragging parents to embrace warmist ideology. Those of us who were in our teens or older during the Cuban missile crisis have a little understanding of what it feels like to prepare to kiss our arses goodbye.

That was brief, with the hair trigger crisis lasting a short time, kids are goaded with GW hysteria from pre-school onwards for years with serious psychological damage resulting:

(L) We all remember this one.

On the eve of Prime Minister Julia Gillard's carbon tax package announcement, psychologists and scientists said the lessons were alarmist, created unneeded anxiety among school children and endangered their mental health.
Climate change as a "Doomsday scenario" is being taught in classrooms across Australia.
Resource material produced by the Gillard government for primary school teachers and students states climate change will cause "devastating disasters".
"As well as their terrible impact on people, animals and ecosystems they cause billions of dollars worth of damage to homes and other buildings," the material says.
Australian National University's Centre for the Public Awareness of Science director Dr Sue Stocklmayer said climate change had been portrayed as "Doomsday scenarios with no way out".

Dr Stocklmayer said she was not a climate-change sceptic but worried that "too much time was spent presenting scary scenarios, especially to young people".
"(Children) feel incredibly despondent and helpless in the face of all this negative information," she said. "To put all of this before our children ... is one of the most appalling things we can do to (them).
Child psychologist Kimberley O'Brien also said the language of climate change should be "toned down".
"Kids are naturally interested in cyclones and volcanoes but (educators) should stick to the facts," she said.
"They should be aware that kids do have nightmares."
Psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg called on educators to be "more circumspect and present both sides (of the climate-change debate)".
"When you repeat things over and over to young people who don't have the cognitive maturity and emotional maturity to process this stuff, you end up creating unnecessary anxiety," he said.
Federal Schools Minister Peter Garrett said the government would not stop the teaching of climate science, despite moves in Britain for the subject to be withdrawn.

  1. Er, remember Russian set theory in Aussie primary school maths in the 60s after the Sputnik scare? Or how history & geography morphed into social studies when sociology arrived? Or how TV was going to "revolutionize education"? Or how kids can't do legible handwriting now schools use computers. The greenhouse scare could just be another trendy fad in our schools. As Federal Schools Minister Garrett's old rock band Midnight Oil used to sing: "Cold, cold change....waiting to begin, left us all angry and bewildered, laughing at the way we were taken in"

  2. I was in a one teacher country school during the Sputnik thing and it was treated as a technological advance but may have been treated differently elsewhere. Our teacher was pretty independent in his thinking.

The main shock was as I found out later, its relevance to ICBM technology.

There have been numerous changes over the years, each with its doomsdayers shouting loudly. Everything has a capacity to be misused, but that is a matter of morals and ethics, not science.

My greatest concern though in this case is the psych effect on kids being subjected to doomsday scenarios over years through the school system.

  3. You guys are so behind the times Down Under. According to Obama's old bomb-throwing buddy "Professor" Bill Ayers, a big wig in the Chicago, IL school systems at one time, the purpose of a public school is NOT to TEACH or EDUCATION. Pah, silly old fashioned notions.

No, according to Billy Boom-Boom Ayers, the purpose of public schools is to "reach out to external partners and community organizers" and to "...provoke resistance to American racism and oppression."

Which explains why I've met high school "graduates" who could not tell time on a clock with hands, make change, or read a tape measure. But by God they knew all about Global Warming.

  4. Bawb, I'm the first to admit we have a fair way to go to catch up with the subtle nuances of the US system, but we are catching up with the results in our own way.

A few days ago I went through the supermarket checkout ringing up $23.25. I handed the chick a $50 + $3.25 in change. She looked at me, all confused and handed back the change and proceeded to give me the change out of $50.

I said, "Wouldn't it be easier to give me $30 in change out of $53.25."

Her: But you didn't need to give me that, the $50 covers that."

Me: " But this way, I get the change in notes, and you have more change instead of less."

I got what I wanted but she thought I was a senile old prick who didn't understand how change was done in the modern era.

  5. Jim, you only do this when the checker is an old lady. Most of them can still do simple arithmetick.
All the chickie had to do was enter the $53.25 into the magic money machine and it would have told her to give you $30 change. That's how it's done today. But arguing with pubick skule grajits is often totally futile. No wonder people just take the change, dump it into a jar and then take the jar to a Changemaster machine (which charges them 8%) and get cash back.

  6. Bob, with the older ones explanations are not necessary. They just know.
